Hetzner BYOIP Integration Overview
Searching for the best IP providers? Hetzner offers a redundant internet upstream with a personal BGP session for colocation racks, cages and custom bare metal arrangements, in Falkenstein, Nuremberg and Helsinki. You announce your own address space from your own ASN; Hetzner does not supply addresses for this upstream.
This is a specific custom service, not general BYOIP. Nothing published extends it to Hetzner Cloud or to ordinary dedicated server orders, and bare metal servers reach it through a Private Network Interconnect (PNI).

Caveats and Gotchas
- Own ASN and own IPs only: Hetzner does not originate customer prefixes for this upstream and does not provide addresses for it.
- Not Hetzner Cloud: the service is documented for colocation and custom bare metal only. Do not read it as BYOIP on Hetzner Cloud or standard dedicated orders.
- Transfer networks are not your prefix: the two /30 transfer subnets a BGP session needs are link networks, not a minimum announced block.
- Peering is a different product: Hetzner's peering policy covers interconnection with other networks, not this customer upstream.

Step-by-Step BYOIP Process
This follows the documented prerequisites; it is not a self-service runbook.
ask customer support for a custom proposal covering the infrastructure and BGP endpoint.
settle the ASN, prefixes, transfer subnets and authorisation requirements.
include the pre-cabling and/or PNI, then agree routing and activation checks.
Withdrawal and Deprovisioning
BGP cancellation, withdrawal timing and PNI teardown are not published. Agree a coordinated withdrawal and termination plan with Hetzner, and confirm the contract treatment of any cross-connects.
